FLiP On Wheels: Taking Digital Literacy to Rural Communities in Jharkhand
|
The Foundation successfully conducted the third pilot of the Functional Literacy Programme (FLiP) On Wheels, in collaboration with The Kind Citizen and Naya Savera Vikas Kendra in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand. This initiative involved transforming two auto rickshaws into mobile digital hubs, equipped with informative posters on digital and financial literacy. These mobile hubs travelled to 12 villages in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, providing digital literacy training to women's Self-Help Group (SHG) and young girls. Equipped with trained instructors, community mobilizers, loudspeakers, and digital training tools, the digital hubs served the cause of inclusive digitalization by taking digital literacy to the doorsteps of the underserved communities.
The training sessions were tailored to address different age groups and knowledge levels of the participants. Women aged 30 to 55 received training on mobile phone usage, WhatsApp functionalities, location sharing, voice recording, mobile banking, online shopping, digital security, and awareness about social welfare schemes. Meanwhile, young college-going girls aged 16 to 25 were trained on using Google Translate, scanning features, understanding Artificial Intelligence, utilizing ChatGPT, recognizing plagiarism, conducting Google Meet sessions, learning about cybersecurity and accessing emergency helpline numbers.
The impact of the FLiP-on-Wheels programme was significant, reaching over 1,500 beneficiaries, including tribal populations. This initiative played a crucial role in integrating these communities into the digital landscape of India, aligning with our collective journey towards a digitally inclusive nation. An empowered rural India is everyone’s business.

Greening our Spaces: Cleanliness Drives for Better Tomorrow
|
Under the banner Volunteerism Matters, the Foundation spearheaded cleanliness drives across multiple locations in India. These drives were conducted in collaboration with NGO partners at 10 locations across the country : New Delhi; Kasauli, Bir, and Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh; Corbett National Park, Rishikesh, and Dehradun in Uttarakhand; Hosur in Tamil Nadu; Bhubaneswar in Odisha; and Santrampur in Gujarat.
The primary objective of these drives extended beyond mere cleanup efforts. They were strategically crafted to help inculcate a sense of civic duty among citizens and raise awareness about environmental preservation, particularly crucial amidst rapid urbanization. Through meticulous planning, community engagement, and the implementation of targeted public awareness campaigns, the intervention helped build engagement around cleanliness, hygiene, and sustainable environmental practices.
Volunteers played a pivotal role in the success of these drives. Their sincere and active involvement not only facilitated the cleanup process but also fostered community engagement and empowerment. Volunteers contributed their time, effort, and knowledge to cultivate a culture of cleanliness and environmental consciousness.
These efforts have not only addressed immediate cleanliness challenges but have also succeeded in nurturing a culture of responsibility and environmental stewardship among citizens.
